Some hate crime overlooked

I am really sorry that there was a man in Fieldston who had to awaken one morning to find the word “Jew” written on his front door.

You reported that this was the third such crime this year. That, too, saddens, me. But what has me most disheartened is that the hate crimes against me that I reported to the NYPD were not included.

My car was etched with swastikas twice, both in May. The first time, the hood of my car had four swastikas etched into it, with a fifth one badly attempted. The cops came, even the hate crimes department, and yet somehow — as I thought at the time — there was no follow through.

The next time, later in the month, there was a swastika on each of my windows. The cops came and did nothing, not even an attempt to write out a report. They said it wasn’t a hate crime because I am not Jewish.

I told them, “I don’t know, but I feel hated.”

I even did my own surveillance work so see who was doing it. The cops did nothing.

Is it because I’m not Jewish? Is it because I don’t have a fancy address?
