The Westchester Acoustic Guitar Meetup Group

Join us for another fun meetup session at the Riverdale Community space (@ Christ Church Riverdale).

BRING: Acoustic guitar, music stand, tuner, and 15-20 copies of lyrics/chords sheets for 2 songs of your choice (check this website for number of RSVPs). Also, always good idea to bring a capo and set of extra strings (you never know). Singers welcome and should bring tabs for any songs they want the group to play. Other non-amplified instruments also welcome.

7:00PM - We should have room open for early arrivals.

7:30PM - 9:00 ish - Our usual group play: we'll go around the group for each person to present a song for all to play. In choosing songs try to keep songs to 5 chords or less and avoid unusual chords that the less experienced (like me!) may not know (or show the fretboard diagram for the chord on the chord sheets).

Note: Songs we've played before are okay. Nothing wrong with revisiting song favorites.

9:00 - 9:30 ish - We set aside this time for anyone who wishes to perform a song for the group. You don't have to be a pro or a great singer - passion for the music counts for a lot. Strictly voluntary but it's a great low-key, supportive environment for the experienced and novice to perform.

The church is on the eastern side (northbound) of the HHP. It is the 3rd exit in NYC coming from Westchester county -- exit 22, 254th Street. Left at the stop sign, left at the next light (252nd), then you'll be facing the church. You'll have no choice but to turn left, but you can park immediately. If you happen to be coming straight down Riverdale Ave, just turn left at 252nd street. Plenty of free on-street parking. 3 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and good NYC tap water (rated the best of all bottled waters tested by Consumer Reports in the country). We will have use of the piano.
