CitiBikes are great, convenient

(Re: “What are CitiBikes doing here?” Nov. 23)

To the Editor:

CitiBikes are present in Kingsbridge, so the residents of Kingsbridge may use them to access other parts of the city, and so visitors to Kingsbridge residents may travel there by bike.

You (James Dalton) state there is no commercial activity in the heart of Kingsbridge. True, but then where do people like to go after they’ve finished commercial activity?

They often go home. Perhaps Kingsbridge residents may enjoy the opportunity of cycling home after class at Lehman College, or after a pleasant dinner in Inwood, or a modest grocery shopping at Garden Gourmet, that glittering jewel of a supermarket.

Bike share provides an opportunity for New Yorkers to combine exercise and transportation. I have come to rely on it already. I bought a membership the week the docks went online and I have been using CitiBikes nearly every day as part of my commute and to run errands. For me it is a tremendous convenience, and great fun, too.

I urge you to walk down to the nearest dock and take a ride, if you are able. I hope it will put a smile on your face.
