Congrats to Ben Franklin Club Democrats

Thank you to the people of our community for their strong support for our team of candidates endorsed by the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club in last week’s Democratic primary.

Ben Jackson was elected as the new Democratic district leader for the 81st Assembly District; Michael Heller was re-elected as Democratic state committee member and Johanna Edmondson was elected as Democratic state committee member.

Emily Hausman ran an incredibly strong race as a first-time candidate for district leader.

Our team also elected eight out of nine members of our slate as delegates to the Democratic Judicial Convention and eight out of nine alternates. I am also proud more than 170 of the 184 Bronx Democratic County Committee members from our district were candidates of the Ben Franklin Club.

This overwhelming support by Democrats for the candidates of the Ben Franklin Club is not only a testament to the hard work of our many volunteers but also to the superb credentials of all of our candidates.

And I’m grateful for the endorsements of our slate by U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and City Councilman Eric Dinowitz.

I am also thrilled George Latimer, who was endorsed by the Ben Franklin Club, won a landslide victory over Jamaal Bowman in the crucial primary for Congress in our neighboring district.

This is not a time for us to rest on our laurels. We must now turn our attention to helping to elect Democrats from the top of the ticket on down, including working for a Democratic House of Representatives.

Ben Franklin Club President Virginia Krompinger and I will both serve as Biden delegates to the Democratic National Convention this August in Chicago.

I look forward to working for Democratic victories in November, and I invite everyone to work with the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club to make it happen.
