Eileen O'Shea, who brought touch of Ireland to Riverdale

Posted

Eileen Ita O’Shea (née Thrapp) of Riverdale, passed away on Jan. 21, 2021.

She was born Aug. 29, 1932, in County Longford, Ireland, to Ellen and William Thrapp. She emigrated to the United States in 1950 at 18, settling in Brooklyn.

After many years of living independently, she married John O’Shea on April 29, 1988, and moved to Riverdale.

Some of her favorite hobbies included shopping, visiting the casinos, and vacationing in Florida with John.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Rose King, of Carmel; and her Irish siblings Bridie Davis, Annie Lynch, and Willie Thrapp (wife Monica), all from Longford. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews who grew up with her charming Irish wit.

She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her brothers Joseph, Patrick, James and Peter, whom her family hopes will surround her with love at her final destination.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to the RiverSpring home health aides who helped her remain comfortably at home in her last years.
