It's not poison ivy

To the editor:

(re: “You see leaves of three? Then please leave it be!” Sept. 2)

While I am quite pleased that The Riverdale Press is paying attention to the poison ivy in Van Cortlandt Park, I am looking in dismay at a photograph — not of poison ivy (three leaves), but the not-at-all poisonous Virginia creeper (five very obvious leaves).

A half-minute of internet searching would have resulted in the correct photograph.

I was sorry to see that The Riverdale Press missed an opportunity to educate its readers by not publishing a photo of an actual poison ivy plant with its story on poison ivy.
