1. Police said on Jan. 23 at 12:35 a.m., two unknown men pushed their way into a 23-year-old woman’s apartment, located at 226 W. 242nd St. 

The victim told police one of the males, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask, pointed a dark silver handgun at her and ordered her to “get the weed.” 

The perpetrators took her iPhone and $45 before fleeing the scene. The robbery is under investigation. 

2. Tools burgled 

Authorities said a 68-year-old man and his workers left 3020 Palisades Ave. at 8:50 a.m. on Jan. 20 after securing a number of tools inside the basement at the location. 

When they returned, they discovered a perpetrator had stolen hammer drills, a six-inch grinder, a 12-inch grinder and a number of other tools, valued at $6,110 in total, from the location. The location was found to have a defective lock. 

Police obtained camera footage of the burglary and are investigating the case. 

3. Laundry money lifted

On Sunday, a witness told police that two men wearing hoodies and ski masks forcibly entered the lobby of 3240 Riverdale Ave. before making their way to the laundry room. 

After entering the room, they used a crowbar to destroy the laundry room’s coin machine and removed an unknown amount of currency. 

The two were caught on video and the case is open to detectives. 

4. Smoking in plain sight

Police were patrolling on the northeast corner of Palisades Avenue and West 254th Street on Saturday around 5:30 p.m. when they noticed a man with a lit marijuana cigarette in public view. When officers confronted the man, they found and recovered a number of additional marijuana cigarettes from his person. 

The 20-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana. 

5. Grand larceny auto

Police said a 70-year-old woman parked her 2001 gold Nissan Quest van at the northeast corner of Palisades Avenue and West 232nd Street in November. When she returned to the location on Jan. 19 at 5 p.m., she discovered the van was gone. 

The vehicle was valued at $1,500 and the grand larceny case is under investigation.
