On Sunday, September 22 at 3:00 p.m., four individuals who collectively served seven decades in prison, will retell their harrowing life stories of abuse, abandonment, crime, incarceration, reentry and redemption at The Fortune Society’s dramatic presentation of “The Castle.”

Created and directed by the founder of The Fortune Society, David Rothenberg, “The Castle” stars four members of the Fortune community who, with Fortune’s help, transformed their lives and are now responsible, successful, tax-paying New Yorkers. Each lived at Fortune’s transitional supportive housing facility in West Harlem, The Fortune Academy, also known as The Castle. This dramatic play, which met with rave reviews, ran Off-Broadway for 18 months.

The cast includes Rory Anderson, Vilma Ortiz Donovan, Ervin Hunt and Casimiro Torres. After the performance, audience members will participate in a Q&A with the four cast members.

The Fortune Society is one of the nation’s most respected nonprofit organizations serving and advocating for people with criminal justice involvement.
