The new normal?

A view from Riverdale Avenue last week shows the amber-lit smog that descended upon Riverdale in front of SAR High School and 259th Street. With the naked eye, many could see an orange hue that blocked the sunlight from coming through. It was due to dangerous smoke from hundreds of fires in southern Canada. The Air Quality Index reached 484, which made it too dangerous to breath for people with asthma or other similar ailments. By the end of the weekend, the smoke dissipated. Rob, a city Department of Sanitation worker, was wearing a heavy duty mask last week when making his rounds at Horace Mann High School during the smog.
