Two 24-year-olds have been charged with assault of a police officer following an incident that occurred on a subway car around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Kingsbridge. Just before the assault police officers from the 50th Precinct were responding to a radio call of a dispute of a person with a knife at the 238th Street subway station.

When police arrived, an MTA conductor informed them that four males, possibly armed with knives, were engaged in a dispute with another group, who by the time of the police’s arrival had already exited at the 231st Street subway station.

Police gave orders to two of the four males, instructing them to exit. However, according to police, they refused those orders. Instead the two men began to punch a police officer in the head and body, causing multiple lacerations and swelling to the left eye, police said.

The two men fled onto the roadbed and were later apprehended. They were found with a knife, a box cutter and a straight razor. As for the police officer, Lt. Gypsy Pichardo, he was taken to St. Barnabas and was in stable condition.

The two alleged attackers were identified as Marquise Webb of Yonkers and Brian Innocent of New Rochelle. They were both charged with assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
