A party was held last Sunday at the plaza on Kappock Street and Knolls Crescent in celebration of a 14-year-old community garden started by Rita Freed. It was a celebration of the volunteers and all the hard work they’ve done to cultivate and clean the garden. more

The barbecue section of one of the picnic areas at Van Cortlandt Park is quite flooded following last Friday’s torrential rain. The city’s third largest park was just one of the areas in the five boroughs that suffered from massive flooding that day. more

 To the Editor: In reading Governor Kathy Hochul’s 2024 State of the State, I was pleased to read that Governor Hochul noted that in striving to expand access to primary care for adults with complex needs, the State will “increase support for healthcare providers serving individuals with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities.” I commend the Governor’s commitment to improving access to quality care for those with physical disabilities—something that is tremendously needed in our State.  more
The inaugural “Lettuce Run” at Van Cortlandt Park saw over a hundred community members participate last Saturday. The event hosted by the Van Cortlandt Track Club was to bring attention and raise money for the Friendly Fridge Foundation, a community fridge that has been redirecting food to those in need since the pandemic. more
