On April 25, Maria Tsirkas, secretary of a co-op on Kappock Street, says a small mountain of detritus on Johnson Avenue containing dead trees, trash, weeds and worse has blighted the neighborhood for over a year. She has complained to local officials and 311, but she says they have yet to take action. However, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz’s chief of staff, Randi Martos, said her office has elicited a promise from property owner Hampton Management to take care of the mess.

50 Years on the Job

Building relationships simply by repairing one kitchen at a time

Felix Lam has been the superintendent at 2465 Palisade Ave., in Spuyten Duyvil for 50 years. The 81-year-old has made his home — and career — at the eight-story co-op since he was a young man. And how does that make him feel? “I’m very happy about it,” Lam said.
