Many motor vehicle owners along West 246th Street got a rude awakening at around 6 a.m. last Thursday when they saw New York Police Department tow trucks taking away their cars. The reason given for the towing was paving that was being done that day. Residents said they didn’t see any signs mentioning that.

Several families seeking asylum in the city-operated shelter at Van Cortlandt Motel have spoken out against poor living conditions there. These alleged conditions include bed bugs, mice, nauseous smells, moldy ceilings, an abundance of food being unnecessarily thrown out, and abusive management.
